Presentation of the Freedom of Cannock Chase District Council to The Mercian Regiment and The Staffordshire Regiment Association – Friday 27 June 2014
On the penultimate Day of its existence, 3rd Battalion, The Mercian Regiment marched through Cannock town centre and then received the Freedom of the District from the Chairman Councillor Alan Pearson. At the same time, The Staffordshire Regiment Association also paraded and received the Freedom of the District. Many men
from Cannock Chase have served in the Mercian Regiment and its antecedents, so it was a great honour for the Regiment. We would like to thank Mr George Adamson, the Leader of the Council who formally proposed the honour and Miss Victoria Mason for running the event.
