Chairman’s Report – Councillor Craig Wheeler
As I approach the end of my
Mayoral Year it’s a great time
to look back at the events I
have held and the support I
have received. From my Teddy
Bears Picnic and the Family
Pantomime to my Quiz and
Chips evening I have tried to
engage with everyone in the
town. This has led to a fantastic fundraising effort for my chosen
charity. Over the next year we
have lots of events including
Thrapston’s inaugural Arts
Festival. This is set to be a fantastic event in June and I hope you will all come out and support the activities throughout the week of the event.
The Town Council has recently held
an Extraordinary Council Meeting to discuss the future of the library. We are still having discussions with the County Council to secure a way forward that is beneficial to the town and community. As and when we have more information we will keep residents up to date through our Facebook/Twitter and Website.
On Tuesday 16th April we have our Annual Town Meeting. It’s where you as residents can hear what we have been doing and ask questions to us as your elected representatives. It’s an opportunity to get to know your councillors and
chat to local community groups. Please also remember that all members of the public are welcome to attend any of our meetings and I would encourage you all to come along and see what we are doing. We also currently have 2 vacancies on the Town Council and if you are interested in joining a proactive, community focused
team then please contact the Town Council.
As a Town Council we
have also decided that our
film season will continue
over the summer period. Our movie screenings in the newly refurbished Plaza building will be held monthly – see “Save the Date” for details. Tickets are £2 per person and refreshments are provided. You can purchase tickets on the door or reserve them at the office. In

addition, we are also going to be showing mid-week films during the school holidays specifically picked for children. We hope you are able to come along.
