Thrapston Nene Valley Park
Volunteers have completed the first phase
in building a new nature park in Thrapston, opening up the area for more people to enjoy.
Thanks to a lot of old-fashioned elbow grease, the old gravel pits (which adjoin Middle Nene Sailing Club) is being diligently transformed into Thrapston Nene Valley Park, a place for families and friends to meet, nature to
but there’s plenty more to do. In our next phase we’d like to build and install points of interest to draw in visitors. Some of these projects will have naming rights. It’s really exciting.”
Grants and donations are being sought to build a woodland bridge over the River Nene overflow, create a wildflower meadow, install
   thrive and adventure to begin!
In just two years, the volunteer team
in partnership with Thrapston Town Council has created and maintained pathways, resurfaced the Meadow
Lane carpark, purchased and installed benches, planted native trees, created daffodil and wildflower areas, installed way-finder signs and built an impressive set of woodland steps and a woodland walk. They’ve also installed an entrance sign to officially welcome visitors.
We’re keen to talk to local businesses and individuals who would like to leave a lasting legacy to the town
