With typical forbearance and determination, the company returned to Lisburn to immediately focus on deployment to the Falkland Islands. We also welcomed the arrival of the new OC, Maj David Macklin, from Army HQ. There was also the duty of representing the Army at the Northern Ireland Armed Forces Day fair, producing a textbook demonstration of an insurgent camp raid in front of an appreciative crowd.
Elsewhere, B Coy soldiers have stood out: Rfn Waugh achieving a Bronze at the Infantry Skiing Championships, Cpl Deal as top shot within the 1(UK) Div, and the G4 effort underpinned stoically by Rfn Felts and Rfn Monvoisin. Four members of the Coy were awarded CJO’s commendation for their performance on Op TORAL in 2014/15, well-merited recognition. The Coy has managed to escape often this year to the Mourne Mountains, to socialise at the Belfast UOTC, and slowly put down roots in and around our Lisburn home. We welcome Capt Hugh Helmsley as 2ic from Ri es Coy in Catterick, WO2 Turner as CSM from 3 RIFLES, CSjt Eastwood as CQMS, and in the pl HQs, 2Lts Gillard, Murphy, Sjts Cook, Powell and Macmillan. Departing were Maj Shercliff, WO2 Broughton (to RQMS(T)), Capt Carrow (to BHQ), and Lts Prince and Swindells to I Coy.
