RAPTC RUGBY LEAGUE
RAPTC RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB – 2015/16
SSgt (SSI) L L Brimble RAPTC
Another busy year for the RAPTC Rugby Team. Our year started by kicking off the 2015 Corps Rugby League Season which starts annually in Apr. This year there was a huge restructure of how Corps Rugby League competition would be played. In the past there were 2 separate Leagues. The winner of league 2 would be promoted and then play in the higher league 1. This year this would be changed and all teams would be split into 2 even Leagues and then the nals would be played at the end of the season to determine the overall winner. This would leave some of smaller Corps that have been in the old lower league 2 struggling against the larger Corps Teams. The RAPTC and AMS decided that the way forward would be to merge together forming “The Spartans”. The rst year has been very rocky however we put in some good performances against some good well drilled and structured Corps teams. The Spartans will look to build as a team in the 2016 Season.

To end a tough 2014/15 Rugby Union season WO2 Gareth Slade- Jones organised a trip to Brighton to play in the towns annual 7 a side Rugby Union competition in June 2015. The competition consisted of over 20 civilian teams of which the RAPTC RFC were the only military side entered into the competition. The competition was played over 2 days and was a fantastic event to be part of.
This style of game suites us well and it gives us the room to show our speed and tness. Overall the RAPTC came 12th in the competition; however we were de nitely the best drinkers in the competition.
The Team attended the RAPTC Commemorative Service that took place at the RAPTC Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum
