SCOTTISH BRANCH
Capt Neil Beattie, Branch Secretary
The rst weekend in June sees the RAPTC Association (Scottish Branch) Annual Gathering and 2016 was blessed with fantastic weather for our Golf outing. 21 Association Golfers took to the eld of play, this year at Milnathort Golf Club. 9 holes in the morning followed by lunch and further 9 in the afternoon provided a great opportunity to mingle, cajole and regroup. Steve Monk was this year’s scratch champion and a sincerest thanks to all who attended.
This year’s Gathering saw our new Chairman, Lt Col (Retd) Dougie Peters at the helm and with Maj’s (Retd) Stewart McNeish and Dougie McGill in Assistant Chairmen positions and Mrs Liz Korda as Treasurer, the committee are in a good position moving forward for 2016/17.
Our social gathering on the Friday night provides the opportunity to relax and catch up with friends and colleagues past and this year the entertainment was provided by a 4 piece ceilidh group from the Royal Scots Band.
The Saturday Dinner was held in the Windelstrae Hotel again with plenty of RAPTC Tartan on display. Fantastic Piping from Pipe Sgt Major Stu Gillies from 2 SCOTS was followed by a superb display of Scottish Highland Dancing from the young ladies of the Sarah Hendry School of Dance. A moving tribute was provided

It was then time for the Alba Ceilidh band to return with Scottish Dance a plenty, high knee lifts and the odd Swedish PT going on!!

The Branch continues to nd ways to communicate to our members and followers and the creation of the Branch Facebook page has been well received and will hopefully grow further.

It has been another successful year for the Corps Museum. Massive strides have been taken in cataloguing and digitising the collection, thanks to the continued hard work by the museum’s
volunteers. The gallery displays continue to be updated with items that have not been on display for some time (if at all!), so it is always worth visiting the Museum to see what’s new.
We have been incredibly fortunate over this past year to have received some very interesting donations. The family of ex-SMI
Frederick Strong have donated his service medals and a large amount of archive material. SMI Strong served with the SAS and Long Range Desert Group during the Second World War. During the Korean War he was attached to the 1st Battalion The Glosters for which he was awarded the BEM for his conduct during the Battle of the Imjin River and as a Prisoner of War.
More recently ex-QMSI Bernie Durkin donated his service medal, which includes the South Atlantic Medal with Rosette
