ensure the effective delivery of physical training to both recruits and permanent staff. Working and planning closely with G7 Trg in order to safeguard the PD programme and delivery to ensure it is t for purpose. Producing and updating endless spread sheets, databases and trackers is just part of the daily routine but an imperative job nevertheless. Juggling a busy daily schedule along with Validations, ITC Boxing, Health Fair delivery and AAPTI issues is all part of the fun at ITC. Many other events have also been showcased here at the ITC over the last 12 months including RAPTC brie ng course, UK North Cross Country Championships and the UK North Volleyball competition to name a few.
The workload is heavy and at times keeping staff chained to their desk however, there are always opportunities to escape the ‘doom and gloom’. ITC gym staff have also been involved in the delivery of various AT packages and sporting competitions as well as winning the UK North Cross Country Champions.
With the heavy workloads and introduction of new training initiatives and concepts, staff training is essential and important for the staff to remain current and competent, ensuring the best possible product is delivered to the next generation of Infantry soldier. Annual De cit Training (ADT) and Continued Professional
Development (CPD) is a fundamental part of the gym staffs development with the team given every opportunity to organise, participate and of ciate in as many activities, professionally and socially. Over the last 12 months the gym staff have conducted CPD Trg days in Kettlebells, Spinning, Foam rolling and injury prevention just to mention a few. The gym staff have represented in all sporting disciplines at all levels across the Army. In addition, a number of gym staff are also completing Diplomas in teaching along with Degrees in strength and conditioning as part of continuous development.
In closing, with the recent introduction of the new CIC 16 programme, the second ‘wave’ of new equipment to come and further planned Gymnasium enhancements mean exciting times are just around the corner. Life and work ahead undoubtedly will continue to be extremely busy and challenging but ful lling with constant improvements inevitably taking this fantastic but tired facility forward. The ITC is an excellent, rewarding but complex environment to work in which inevitably throws continuous challenges and hurdles to negotiate. However, we have excellent hard working and passionate staff which are driving great success that will continue to embrace the new challenges ahead here at the ITC Catterick in the next chapter.
