THE TRANSMISSION OF HEAT
CONDUCTION
• The transmission of heat via solid objects for e.g. from a room to the room above it via the ceiling and floorboards
CONVECTION
• The upward surge of hot gases for e.g. from one floor to another via the internal stairway openings
RADIATION
• Transmission of heat e.g. from radiant heaters to combustible materials placed in front and too close to the heater
DIRECT BURNING
• Flames making a direct contact with a combustible material e.g. a lit match to paper
