On Soroka’s agenda in the coming years are a Innovation
number of processes aimed at making the medical
center a leader in innovation. One of the main
projects is related to a significant development
in the medical world – the adaptation of medical
treatment to specific patients based on the detailed

personal clinical data, genomics, proteomics, and
 environmental exposure.

This vision is already being translated into an
operational program that is working to attract
faculty members who specialize in the research,
development, and implementation of this new clinical

paradigm. As part of this effort, a 4,500 square
meter (approximately 48,400 square feet) building
for joint research conducted by Soroka and Ben-
Gurion University of the Negev is currently under
construction. An initial investment of $17 million has
 been allocated for this project.

The medical center sees every possible cooperative
project in the field of innovation as part of a very

important mission to promote the welfare of the
residents of the Negev. Soroka, located within walking
distance of Ben-Gurion University, the Hi-Tech Park,
and the Israel Defense Forces Intelligence Campus is
ideally positioned for joint work on innovation. Indeed,
Soroka is playing a significant part in the process of “The best way to predict the
establishing an innovation district, the first of its kind future is to create it.”
