Cheeky Thoughts on
Describing an Auction Car
the
Bonham's Way
"Your author has driven the car and can faithfully attest to the fact
that it goes about its business with ferocious, undiluted and hugely
satisfying aplomb.
It is thoroughly sorted, properly screwed together and hunkers
down to business with an enthusiasm bordering on rudeness.
The gear shift is weighty, positive and notchy.
The acceleration is grin-inducingly silly.
The chassis is on exactly the same page as the engine and 5 PLEASANT
drivetrain. 4 FAST LANE
This is one of those rare, special, thoroughbred performance cars 3 SLACKEN
that gets better the faster you drive it. 2 ALASKAN 1. CANASTA
Best of all, it makes a noise that we imagine is broadly comparable
to Tom Waits desperately shouting to an escaped dog across one of Answers
the larger Norwegian fjords."
Editor's note: If you don't know the music of Tom Waits and his distinctive sound,
below is a modest example of what Bonham's has noted in its review.
