Lastly, Dual Credits are also in full swing and many SHSM students are earning additional credits that will help them to be successful in their chosen career pathway.
SCWI - DUAL CREDITS
Students at MDHS are currently participating in the Masonry Preparation and Exploring Electrical programs at the Conestoga College, Ingersoll Skills Training Centre. Vanessa Hook was the sole female in the dual credits. She indicated she was unsure why more young women would not try Dual Credit trades related courses. She found Masonry was ok to try and provided the opportunity to learn and improve skills using trowels, levels, hammers, and jointers. She had no concerns about joining a trades class with high school guys. She is proud and happy with her accomplishments in Masonry and a previous Automotive-related Dual Credit courses.
