3.1.3 Approaches and Methods in Teaching
Use of Varied Teaching Strategies / Methods / Techniques
Teaching methods are strategies used in conjunction with learning approaches
that promote, engage and enhance student learning. Learning of students
depends a lot on how the teachers makes them learn. It is the teaching
style/methodology, approach, or strategy that influence learning most.
To ensure that the students develop analytical, critical, creative and independent
thinking, various teaching methods / strategies are utilized by faculty members.
These are shown in the course syllabi that the faculty member prepares for each
subject that he/she handles.
Various Strategies include:
• Computer Aided Instruction
• Traditional methods such as lectures, reporting, discussions
• Conduct of research activities as requirements for Capstone Project 1 and
Capstone Project 2
• Use of multimedia as instructional mode of delivery
• Attendance to seminars, workshops and trainings on various subjects
such as leadership, appreciating statistics and research, preparation of
instructional materials
• Involvement of students in extension trainings: trainings in MS Office
Applications and Internet, Basic PC Troubleshooting and Multimedia
• Seminars /trainings/certifications of students especially in research.
