In offering to Planters the GEIP TIE, the following advantages are claimed

for it; simplicity of application, greater strength both of the Tie and of the
Band, close adjustment and freedom from slip, which prevent any expansion
of the bale, and the impossibility of removing the Band without cutting it.

The importance of these advantages must be evident to planters esoe-

cially the greater strength of the bands. Whenever a band breaks, the cot-
ton is liable to be wasted or pilfered, particularly when the end band is mis-
sing. Tests made with great care at the Heading Iron Works prove that the

same bands with the "Grip Tie" are more than fifty per cent, stronger than
with the ''Arrow Tie." This is due to the fact that with the "Arrow Tie"
the band is secured by being bent over the sharp edge of the tie, which greatly

weakens the band at that point, and the ties themselves are also liable to
break." With the Grip Tie the band is held by being clamped tightly into the

curve line and the whole tensile strength of che iron is preserved intact.

Arrangements have been made for the manufacture of Bands of superior
qnality and in snflScient quantity to supply any demand, and the price
will always he as low as for any other serviceable tie.

The recent reduction in the price of ties was probably due to the com-
petition of the GEIP TIE, and as we offer a superior article at the same prio?,

we trust dealers and consumers will recognize our claim to a fair share of

patronage.
