Driving Licenses and
Driver Training
The British Army has a vast array of vehicles at its disposal
with trained drivers requiring to hold the appropriate licences
for further training on each specific vehicle.
153 Rec Coy REME has a variety of vehicles that Company
members once trained, both on and off road, will be required
to drive during training and throughout their Army Reserve
career.
Once a recruit has completed their Basic Training, depending on what job choice (trade) they have selected, they will
be advised on what driving licences they will be selected to attend and achieve.
Driving licences ranging from car all the way up to Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV), if applicable to your chosen trade, are
paid for by the Army Reserve, in addition to being paid to attend the driving courses.
For those personnel who already have all the licences they require, Driving Instructor Course’s may become available
as well as other more specialized vehicles. Off road driving competitions to test skills also happen periodically.
