About the Illustrator

Angel Dominguez is half Basque and lives in Northern
Spain. A professional artist since 1971 he has illustrated
many books around wildlife and children’s stories. He
combined his love of Britain with his love of nature in
the wonderful classic story of The Wind in the Willows.

As a child Angel was instantly transfixed with the visual

story-telling ability of Arthur Rackham, one of the most
successful artists of the Golden Age of Illustration. His
work is very much inspired by the strong pen and ink
and watercolour techniques of Arthur Rackham, although Angel’s watercolour
palette is more bold, which complements the papers and printing methods of the
twenty-first century.
