Letter from the Asst. Vicar
Search, Serve, Save
In biblical perspective, searching involves going out every tiny, minute thing in
striving for eternal life. It implies a great deal of persistence. Figuratively, it tells
of one digging deep for treasure and precious metal, breaking every single clay
that nothing would be left out.
The Greek verb “zeteo” means to seek or search for something with the intent
of finding it. It carries a sense of determination and diligence in the pursuit. It is
used to denote the act of seeking God, His kingdom, or His righteousness. It is
very much related to the purpose and plan of the Kingdom of God.
God is the King of nature and of history. It doesn’t mean that everything is God’s
doing. It means that God has the final word. But when we look at history and at
nature, it does not look very much as if God is in control. We understand that
there is the difference between what we believe and what we see in reality. Why
is this so?
If not God, who else?
According to the Bible, Devil is the king of this world, prince of this world and
ruler of this world. The characteristics of Satan are as follows:
Deception - Satan is the greatest liar deceiving all and propagating untruths.
Jesus calls Satan, “Father of lies”.
Darkness - It is the feature of the Kingdom of Satan. He loves to hide things. He
hates being brought to the light.
Disease - Have we ever wanted God to be sovereign over your body? Mostly we
are not willing to deal with our gluttony or lust. We ask God to heal our bodies
when we are not willing to put our bodies under his rule is utter hypocrisy.
Division - He loves to divide one another.
Death - Satan applies the method of Spiritual death. It means to be dead to God,
having no spiritual response to God or Gospel. People get involved in violence,
killing with drugs, artificiality, sooner or later, they are physically dead.
