1. What was the inspiration for this set of tunes you have made ?
INTERVIEW WITH

We wanted to make something dark and epic. At the same time
we didn’t want to be confined to a pre-defined genre box, so we
focused on what we ourselves want to play, or what we would
like to hear if we were the audience when we decided on what
should be included or cut away from a song.

What we found interesting is that when we combined the
different band members inspirations together, it always
resulted in rather unconventional songs.
We write our songs in the rehearsal room, starting with a
drum pattern, keyboard melody or a guitar riff, and then the
songs develop as we take inspiration from each other. We
can start with something really mellow, and end up with e

idea quite early in the writing process what will be the story
of the song, and then we compose the different parts to depict
the various moods and themes of the song.
Our lyrics span from high fantasy to real world issues, both Dreamslain is a heavy metal trio from
historical and contemporary. We find inspiration in several Northern Norway. In addition to heavy
literary works, like the books of J.R.R.Tolkien (He Who Rises In metal, they draw inspiration from

2. Who are your influences ?
Our influences vary by instrument. For Daniel, the most important influences are Emperor, Kataklysm and Immortal. For Anna,
it’ Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and ELP as well as classical composers such as J.S.Bach, Beethoven and Rachmaninov. For Igor,
it’s Gary Moore, Dark Tranquillity and Suidakra when it comes to guitar, and Cirith Ungol and Grave Digger for vocals.

they seem like really nice and fun people to be on tour with and hang out with.
