Dr. Seals currently serves as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Public Health. She has built this
department from the ground up and supported the development of the four plus one and master of public health program.
She is an internationally known expert in public health having served in several Centers for Disease Control & Prevention
(CDC) projects. She is a co-investigator on many Community Based Participatory Approach projects including a Patient
Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) study of hepatitis among Asian Americans living from Delaware to New
York City. She as the co-investigator of a CDC REACH grant geared to improve diets among Chinese, Vietnamese,
Korean, and Filipino Community Based Organizations serving meals to community members. Another component of the
REACH grant works with Asian supermarkets to promote healthier foods and improve store offerings of lower salt, higher
fiber and better oil products. Dr. Seals has worked with Native American and African American populations for studies of
cancer, HIV, violence and injury, mental health and health disparities. With Dr. Greg Seals, she is co-leading studies of the
theory of education energy as provided in public health education settings. This award is given to the faculty member who
offers the best advice to students regarding academic and professional development. Dr. Seals goes above and beyond to
support her faculty, staff, and students. This award is welldeserved.
