After pivoting to online environmental education programming during summer 2020 we served over
100 underserved Phoenix children, providing experiences for participants to activate their brains and bodies when they needed it most: Quarantine. Through interactive on-demand and live-streamed facilitation our program director helps impart the value of environmental sustainability and outdoor exploration to help kids learn and grow. Here are some milestones:
52 participants
14 virtual program sessions
32 hours of facilitated programming
1,850 hours of program engagement
23 self-led nature excursions in Phoenix-area parks and preserves
THANK YOU to our year-round program sponsors Phoenix IDA and Kroger/Fry's Food Stores for making this program possible for Phoenix kids!
With the 2020 Camp Colley Season Shelved...
We had the opportunity to drastically cut costs across all expenditure accounts while still creating and delivering impactful programs for Phoenix children. The fiscal year begining October 1, 2019 and ending September 30, 2020 was surely a challenge, but we triumphed but ending the year with a positive net revenue for the third year in a row.
We were diligent to find creative ways to curb operations costs and avoid personnel layoffs while also focusing on delivering high-quality programs and investing staff resources on program goals like strengthening our camp and staff training curricula, launching the accreditation process with the American Camp Association, and improving camp recruitment and registration for 2021 and beyond. In total we saved over $125,000 in costs versus what was budgeted for the fiscal year.
