As a member camp, Camp Colley Foundation has begun the laborious work to achieve program accreditation through the American Camp Association. ACA accreditation is the highest standard of achievement for a summer camp in the United States and is a seal of approval given to programs that display and implement strict measures to maintain the safety of every camper and achieve key outcomes of learning and growth for all participants.
The ACA has outlined more than 140 standards addressing physical camper safety, staff screening and training, food service and handling, transportation guidelines, risk management and many more.
Camp Colley Foundation is working closely with the ACA and expects to earn accreditation after the conclusion of the 2021 camp season. For more information on the ACA and accreditation process visit www.acacamps.org.
Camp Colley Foundation and the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department have worked together closely for more than 15 years to ensure Camp Colley is accessible to underserved Phoenix children. The Foundation is collaborating with key City leaders to determine new strategies to generate income to support its Camper Scholarship Fund. The Foundation spends nearly $200,000 to operate Camp Colley each year. As the City of Phoenix’s summer camp, Camp Colley is only made possible because of the fundraising efforts of the Foundation’s volunteers and staff. Relationships and connections within the City of Phoenix will aid in those efforts.
