               Also known as: Flemish Knot, Figure 8 Bend




               Popular among climbers and sailors, the Flemish Bend is two intertwined or
               “threaded” Figure 8 Knots (also known as Flemish Knots) tied in ropes of
               equal diameter. It’s difficult to untie in natural fiber, but easy enough in
               slipperier synthetic.




                 Uses: static rigging
                 Pros: more secure than most sheet bends

                 Cons: difficult to untie in natural fiber rope; only for ropes of equal diameters
