One year on for
Leeds Cares is the charity partner of Leeds Teaching Hospitals, the Trust to which Leeds Children’s Hospital belongs. The charity raises vital funds which are used to enhance the services we provide to help us deliver exceptional healthcare.
Leeds Cares celebrated its first anniversary in May 2019, having taken on the role of
the former Leeds Hospitals Charitable Foundation. The charity supports Leeds Children’s Hospital in many ways, providing more than £1.1 million in donations in 2017/18.

Dr Chris gets on his bike for UCI World Championships
Our Paediatric Respiratory and Cystic Fibrosis Consultant Dr Chris Edwards is taking on the UCI World Championships in September to raise funds for Leeds Cares. Chris is a keen cyclist already but decided to take on the mammoth challenge to cycle over 90km in recognition of the excellent care his own son received after being born prematurely. Leeds Cares is the first official charity partner of the UCI World Championships, which are being held in Yorkshire.
Determined Dan walks 164 miles and raises over £13k for hospital
Fifteen year old Daniel Morton was recently joined by friends and family to walk cross country in aid of Leeds Cares with proceeds going to Leeds Children’s Hospital. Daniel was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2014
and has since received all of his care from our highly specialist neurosurgery and rehabilitation teams.
Daniel decided to raise funds for our hospital by walking from St Helen’s rugby club near Liverpool all the way to Hull via every rugby superleague ground on the way! In total, the team raised more than £11,000 with more donations pouring in after the event.
