The San Simon Monastery

The monastery was built in the middle of the 19th century. The
monastery is named after saint Simeon, who is mentioned in the
New Testament. The Christians believe that that’s where he was
buried.
Above the entrance door, there are drawings that tell how the
monastery was built.
Greek Orthodox pilgrims who came to the holy land came to the
moanstery, and it was also a home for sick children.
Today the monastery is almost empty and only one monk lives
there, but every Sunday monks from other places in Jerusalem
come to pray with him.
