Celebrating Independence
Like every year on Independence Day, at the President’s Residence, (they)
handed out certificates to outstanding [female and male] soldiers. At the
ceremony, the Minister of Defense told of when he felt the most Israeli,
and the President sang. A hundred and twenty one female and male
soldiers received certificates, one more than every year. Out of the
hundred and twenty one soldiers, there were eleven lone soldiers, for one
of which a surprise was waiting – his dad arrived from Ethiopia after seven
years that they haven’t seen one another. Now the President has to start
preparing the Residence for next year, Israel’s seventieth.
