On the night of Memorial Day a minute-long siren is heard at
8:00 PM. The siren opens the Memorial Day ceremonies all
            over the country.
The siren moment is a special moment; everyone stops,
stands, remembers and thinks – about a soldier they knew,
about the wars that were in the past, or about the one from
this summer, about a family friend who was killed in a terror
attack, and about anyone in whose merit the state was
established and continues still to exist. This is a special
moment, because it is a moment where everyone is together
but everyone is also separate; each person stands with his
            thoughts and feelings, quietly.
On Memorial Day there is another siren, which is two
minutes long, at 11 AM, and then the people in Israel leave
everything they’re doing throughout the day and stand –
just like you saw in the video.
