A White Wedding
Yesterday at eleven-thirty at night, while in Jerusalem they were
celebrating the snow, the guests at Amit and Yair's wedding still believed
that soon Route One [heading towards] the center [of the country] would
be opened to traffic and they would return to their homes. But after a dry
evening, at night it started to snow in the Neve Ilan area and they found
themselves stuck without being able to return home. The roadblocks
caused all the wedding guests to look for a place to spend the night - in a
car, at a roadside inn or on the sofas in the hall with Amit and Yair, the
happy couple. The bride's family and friends, who were trying to make
their way by bus back to Afula, also got stuck in traffic for long hours.
Only in the late morning, when the roads were opened, did Amit and Yair
get to say goodbye to the guests and spend the night after their wedding
night at the Orient Hotel in Jerusalem. And so, the happiest day in Amit
and Yair’s lives has become a day that even the hundreds of guests who
came to rejoice with them will never forget.
