Tipex is an Israeli band, that combines Mediterranean music and
Rock music. Throughout the years of it’s activity, the
composition of the band changed, but the base, and at it’s head
the composer and lead singer Kobi Oz, stayed the same.

Oz was born in Sderot, by the name Yaakov Uzan, to a family
from Tunisia. Part of his childhood years passed in the village of
Gan Yavne. At the age of 15 he changed his name to Kobi Oz and
began to play music in the town he was born in. Oz played mainly
as a keyboardist in different compositions, among them “Sfatayim
(lips) band”, but with his service in Zahal he began to try his hand
as a solo artist. Because he knew how to play only keyboards and
synthesizers, he understood quickly that the sounds he was
making wouldn't sound good in the world of the arizing Israeli
Rock, and he began to play with other musicians, who later
became the Tipex band.

The band was founded in 1988, and until it’s breaking up in 2009,
recorded many hits. After it’s breaking up Kobi Oz worked on his
solo career and released two albums. In 2013 the band got back
together.

Many of the Tipex songs are songs with words that have a social
message.

Tipex was chosen to represent Israel in the 2007 Eurovision that
took place in helsinki, but didn’t succeed to make it the finals
