In what style did (they) build the houses on Nachalat Binyamin street?
Just like the Israelis - Nachalat Binyamin street is both east and west.
In Nachalat Binyamin street it’s possible to see many buildings in an
eclectic style and even in Art Nouveau style. In the buildings there is
also “Neo- Classic” eastern- European architecture, with motifs from
the east.
In 2008 the municipality of Tel Aviv understand that it is important to
maintain the buildings on the street. This is an urban trend all over the
world – this is happening also in London, Paris, Rome and Berlin, and
this is happening in Israel when the most beautiful houses of the city
gain a new life.
An example for this is “the House of the Lords” (Rambam street 15),
named after Lord Melchett who visits the place. In this house, the
artist Reuven Rubin lives and marries, and in this house he works on
many of his paintings.
