Kosher or Not?
At the center of the drama in the ultra-orthodox world stands a rooster
from Belgium, which (we) don’t know whether it’s kosher or not. In the
Torah there’s a list of twenty four non-kosher birds, but (you) can eat
anything that’s not on the list only if you know that people have eaten it in
the past. It all started when ultra-orthodox students looked for a bird (they)
can eat with no problem, and found the Berekel rooster from Belgium. The
rooster got to the table of great Rabbis, and some think it’s kosher and
some think it isn’t. One of the tests the rooster has to take in order to see if
it’s kosher or not is to stand on a stick.
