Mahane Yehuda market

Mahane Yehuda market is on Jaffo Street close to the Nahalaot
neighborhood. The market is very old.
In the 19th century there are stores of Arabs in the market. In the
stores there are fruits and vegetables. In 1908 there are in the
market also stores of Jews.
The market is very dirty, but it's close to the Jewish
neighborhoods and many people come to buy in the market.
The British want to clean the market, but it is very dirty and it is
not possible to clean it.
In 1980 the mayor Teddy Kollek wants to renovate the market
Teddy Kollek gets money from the Jerusalem foundation and
then it is possible to renovate the market.
Now the market is nice and clean. There are coffee shops and
boutiques in the market. Many Israelis and tourists come to the
market. It is nice to do shopping in the market now.
