To eat a warm and sweet latke

Oh Hannah Zelda, my beloved wife Oh Rabbi Kalman, my dear husband
Hanukah has arrived and come

And on Hanukah my soul has desired to There is no sugar left in my kitchen

To prepare a latke without a drop of

Oh Rabbi Kalman, my dear husband sugar

In my kitchen remains no more flour,

My dear husband, and how can I Rabbi Kalman is tired, his soul is sad

Prepare a latke with no flour at all? He puts on his boots and he thinks about
                                              a latke

So Rabbi Kalman got ready to work He returns to the market even more
Put on his hat, put his boots on, hungry
Gallops towards the market, buys He buys sugar and gallops home

quickly Here Hannah Zelda, my beloved wife

Perhaps we should postpone the latkes

Oh Rabbi Kalman, my dear husband till tomorrow

No oil remains in my kitchen My dear husband, for how is it possible
My dear husband, and how can it be To prepare a latke when there is no more

That you will eat a latke if there is no strength

oil?
So Rabbi Kalman takes off his boots,

work And kneads the dough, and pours and

Gallops towards the market, buys The one who laughs last is only the one

quickly who laughs

A jug of pure oil and returns home

Oh Hannah Zelda, morning has come
