Group 1, Supgroup 1 – Irregulars
Many popular and useful verbs belong to Binyan Pa’al, Group 1, Subgroup 1
Some of them have a slightly different sound pattern in the future tense.
The difference of the irregular verbs in this group is in the ending of:
וּנ ְח נ א ,אוּה ,אי ִה ,ה תּ א ,יִנ א
The ending here has the sound “A” as opposed to the sound “O” of the
regular verbs in this group.
For example, regular verbs have the pattern E… O… or EE…O
“ECHTOV” ֹּתּב ְ כ א יִנ א
Irregular verbs in this group have the pattern E…A…
“ELBASH” בשׁ ְל א יִנ א
There are two sub-groups of irregular verbs that have the E…A…
sound pattern.

The middle root letter is a guttural letter: Here we show four popular verbs with
