Binyan Nif'al
Binyan Nif'al – Past Tense
In Binyan Nif'al, the easiest way to get to the past tense “kernel” is by
using present tense form. For example:
ִנ ְכ ַנס ְל ִה ָכ ֵנס
And that's it! This basic sound pattern already sounds like the name of
the Binyan – Nif'al:
NI...A...
To this basic "kernel" we add the corresponding suffixes according to
the pronoun. As an example let’s use the verb:
to enter - ְל ִה ָכ ֵנס
ִנ ְכ ַנס ְל ִה ָכ ֵנס
Pronoun ּו ה ֵהם ִהיא הּוא
Suffix
ּו+ה ִנ ְכ ְנס+ִנ ְכ ְנס ִנ ְכ ַנס
Suffix ִנ ְכ ַנס
ִנ ְכ ְנסּו ִנ ְכ ְנ ָסה
Note that the kernel for הּואis different from the kernel for ִהיאand
ֵהם
For the second chart, we use a slightly different “kernel”:
Pronoun ֶתם ַא ֶתם נּו ֲא ַנ ְחנּו ְת ַא ְת ָת ַא ָתה ִתי ֲא ִני
Suffix
Suffix ֶתם+נּו ִנ ְכ ַנס+ ְת ִנ ְכ ַנס+ ָת ִנ ְכ ַנס+ ִתי ִנ ְכ ַנס+ִנ ְכ ַנס
ִנ ְכ ַנ ְס ִתי ִנ ְכ ַנ ְס ָת ִנ ְכ ַנ ְס ְת ִנ ְכ ַנ ְסנּו ִנ ְכ ַנ ְס ֶתם
