Auschwitz:

Esther and Mina were transported to Auschwitz with Rivka. They were

stripped from their clothes, their hair was shaven off and were sent to

selection.

‘While Mengele was holding the selection and we were naked, he

approached us. I was standing, and he approached Rivka, who had a

swollen belly from Hunger. He asked her if she was pregnant, but she

didn’t understand what he was saying. I overheard so I came up and

said, no no.

So he let her go. That was Rivka.”

The cousins and Rivka survived Auschwitz and even the death march.

When the war was over, they were already at the Bergen-Belzen

concentration camp, weak and very sick.

‘I went to look for Rivka and found her in the hospital, unconscious. I

asked the Doctor and he said, ‘these are her last moments”.

Since that day, Mina has never seen Rivka again. There isn’t even a

picture of her.
