The diary is found
In January 1945, towards the end of WWII, the Soviet army
arrives at Auschwitz in order to liberate it.
There, near the crematoriums, Dr. Zinayda Berzovskaya finds
Rivka Lifshitz’s diary.
She puts the diary in an envelope and adds a piece of a Russian
article, which mentions the liberation of Auschwitz, and writes:
“This is where I found this”.
The diary will remain this way, sealed in an envelope for
decades. Only in 2009, thanks to that newspaper piece, the
envelope with the diary inside will arrive at the Holocaust
center in San-Francisco
