UNESCO vs. Israel

This is exactly what the Palestinians wanted; the resolution by the
Executive Board of UNESCO, the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization, is a directed political resolution, the aim of which is to
question the historic link of Judaism and Jews to the Temple Mount. The
resolution - a five page document, which calls Israel “a conquering force
in Old Jerusalem” fifteen times, and demands the end to Israeli activity
against Muslims at the Al-Aqsa Heritage site, with no mention of the
phrase Temple Mount or its link to Jewish history. The document doesn’t
explicitly state that there’s no connection between Judaism and the Temple
Mount, and even mentions that the Old City is sacred to the three religions,
but it simply ignores it and moreover, is phrased in a way that places the
Al-Aqsa Mosque as a Palestinian Heritage Site sacred to Muslims, period.
The resolution was made with a majority of twenty four countries that
supported it, including Russia, China, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa and
Arab countries, including our friend Egypt. Six countries opposed, and
twenty two countries abstained, including European countries. The result
is a political slap in Israel’s face. The obvious message is distrust towards
Israel and its diplomatic direction.
