Until the year of 1860 all the Jews in Jerusalem are living inside
the walls (of the old city). It is very hard to live inside the walls
because inside the walls there isn't a lot of space and the houses
are very expensive.
In 1860 Moshe Montefiore comes to Jerusalem. He builds for
the Jews who have no money a new neighborhood, outside of
the walls.
It is a beautiful and new neighborhood with new and beautiful
houses. It is the first neighborhood outside of the walls. Now
there is a nice hotel and a music center in the neighborhood.
