Preface:
As a native of the former USSR under Communist rule, I did not have the
privilege of exposure to Torah in my childhood.
I thank God who gave me the privilege of coming to Israel, drawing closer to the
tradition of the Jewish people and quenching my soul's thirst from the source of
the life-giving waters.
Over the course of my cooperative activities with my wife Orly at Ulpan-Or
(www.ulpanor.com), we have met many people – Jews and non-Jews who,
along with their desire to learn Hebrew, expressed longing to try and understand
the texts contained in the Torah.
We accepted this mission with joy.
For some time now we have been publishing interesting explanations relating to
the Torah portions under the title "Ulpan-Or Torah Portion Insights."
Every week we shed light on unique aspects of the weekly Torah portion, the
goal being to enable members of the general public, whose Hebrew is not fluent
to understand unusual and exceptional ideas that are connected to the weekly
Torah portions, and together with that, to learn and improve their Hebrew.
To assist the reader in achieving the above goal, we translate the insights into
English and explain the more complex expressions that appear in the text.
The dissemination of "Ulpan-Or Torah Insights" is done voluntarily, free of
charge on a weekly basis by e-mail to the students, clients and friends of Ulpan-
Or, and subscribers already number in the thousands.

We constantly receive a lot of enthusiastic reactions from our subscribers. The
warm responses we receive inspire us to continue this project.
We are constantly thinking about how we can continue and upgrade this
publication in order to better help people for whom reading and understanding
Hebrew is still challenging.
