Dizengoff's Office

Meir Dizengoff was born in Russia in 1861. When he is 44
years old, he immigrates with his wife Ztina to Israel, and joins
the "Ahuzat Bayit" [homestead] association. In 1911 he is the
head of the association and when Ahuzat Bayit becomes the city
of Tel-Aviv he becomes the first mayor of Tel-Aviv.
Dizengoff loves Tel-Aviv and takes care of it, he helps to build
new houses and invests in the city's culture. Every day he passes
through the city's streets riding his horse, to see that everything
is all right.
The room that we see is Dizengoff's office. Here he works,
meets with important people and thinks about the city and the
residents. Important people such as Ehad Haam and Bialik, as
well as British politicians visit here.
In the office, you can see his coat and hat, the documents he
writes and pictures of important people who come to visit at the
city, such as King George, Queen Elizabeth, Churchill, and
Albert Einstein.
There is also an old big map of Tel-Aviv. We learn from the
map that Tel-Aviv was once a small city but today it is already
very big.
