Article - Emotional Closing of a Circle

This week the Chief Rabbi of Israel closes a circle.
The daughters of the Russian officer who saved
him in the Second World War are receiving in his
name the title "Righteous Among the Nations."
Rabbi Lau was then only eight years old. When he
immigrated to Israel he parted from Fyodor the
Russian officer. He continued to search for him
over the course of many years until a year ago he
discovered who was [is] the officer who saved him.
Today he meets the daughters of Fyodor for the
first time in a ceremony that is held at "Yad
Vashem."
