Moving from Present Tense to Past Tense

In Pa’al 2, the easiest way to get to the past tense “kernel” is by using
present tense form. For example:

                              ‫ָלגּור ← ָגר‬

In Binyan Pa’al 2, this is already the basic “kernel” for the past tense
as well.
To this basic “kernel” we add the corresponding suffixes, according to
the pronoun. As an example let’s use the verb:

                            to live - ‫ָלגּור‬
                              ‫ָלגּור ← ָגר‬

          Pronoun  ‫ ּו‬ ‫ ה ֵהם‬ ‫ִהיא‬  ‫הּוא‬
          Suffix
                              ‫ּו‬+‫ה ָגר‬+‫ָג ָר‬ ‫ָגר‬
          Suffix  ‫ָגר‬
                                ‫ָג ָרה ָגרּו‬

In Pa’al 2, we use the same “kernel” for the second chart as well.

Pronoun  ‫ ֶתם‬ ‫ַא ֶתם‬ ‫נּו‬ ‫ֲא ַנ ְחנּו‬ ‫ ְת‬ ‫ַא ְת‬ ‫ ָת‬ ‫ַא ָתה‬ ‫ ִתי‬ ‫ֲא ִני‬
Suffix

Suffix  ‫ ֶתם‬+‫ָגר‬ ‫נּו‬+‫ ְת ָגר‬+‫ָגר‬ ‫ ָת‬+‫ ִתי ָגר‬+‫ָגר‬
            ‫ַג ְר ֶתם‬ ‫ַג ְר ְת ַג ְרנּו‬ ‫ַג ְר ִתי ַג ְר ָת‬
