The Hebrew Gymnasium – Part 2
Ehad Ha'am felt that there was no good reason to maintain an
entire school for such a limited number of students and advised
transferring the students to Jaffa.
But the school overcame all its difficulties and opponents and in
the 1930's moved to Rehavia and became the most exclusive and
elite school in Jerusalem. Many of its graduates became cultural
leaders in Israel, among them, President Ephraim Katzir, Chief of
Military Staff Yigal Yadin, and authors A.B.Yehoshua, Dov
Kimchi, Yitzhak Shelo, Yonatan Ratush, and others.
