Women in the Military

For the first time, there is a woman squadron commander in the military.

This is a happy day for all the women’s organizations, but it’s a hard day
for some of the rabbis in religious Zionism, who think that women

shouldn’t be in the army altogether, and certainly not in a role like this.

These rabbis call on the Chief of General Staff to go home. Netanyahu and
Minister Naftali Bennett say that this is a very important day for the

military, and believe that the Chief of Staff knows what he’s doing. The
army isn’t impressed, and say that they’ll continue to do things to let

women feel that they can do anything they want to.
