Dialogues – Unit 7

Exercise 7: In pairs, translate 8-10 lines from the dialogue into Hebrew row by
row, each translating his or her part. Translate the whole dialogue if you are up
for the challenge. Then act out the dialogue in front of your classmates.

1 Danny! Where were you? :‫בני‬

2 Three guesses.
:‫בני‬
3 I don’t know. At the bank? At the :‫דניאל‬
supermarket? On Ben Yehuda Street?

4 Not there [that], not there and not there. :‫דניאל‬
I was on a date.

5 On a date?! With who? :‫דניאל‬

I was at a job interview today. The :‫בני‬
6 interview wasn’t good, but… the :‫דניאל‬

secretary was pretty and nice. :‫בני‬
7 You don’t say! How does she look? :‫דניאל‬

8 She looks good. :‫בני‬

9 What’s good? Do I need to milk you?
How does she look? :‫בני‬
She’s not tall and not short, not skinny :‫דניאל‬

11 and not fat. She has a small nose, green :‫בני‬
eyes, and long, black hair. And she has
a smile that can drive you crazy.

11 What do you say. Well, I see it was a
good idea to go for a job interview.
Yeah… It was a good idea. I’m

12 bummed that I don’t have a job, but the
date was excellent.

13 Well, come on, what’s a job? A job is
small change…

14 Yeah, it really is small change. The
salary in Israel is very low.

15 Yeah, that’s true. And now you need a
high salary.

16 Really? Why?

17 Because now you need to pay for her at
the restaurant as well.
