The Class Clown
There is a clown in every group, at every age, throughout the entire
world – in the workplace, in the family, or in school. There is always
someone who tells jokes, makes everyone laugh and looks at
everything that happens from an entertaining point of view. There are
children who are clowns only sometimes – for example, children who
in class become entertainers, but within the family are the mature,
responsible brother. The clown is an important role, and in the jokes
and jests there is sometimes much truth. In the royal courts in
medieval times, the king had a clown: the court jester. He told jokes
and said things that no man aside from him would dare to tell and to
say. It seems to me that this is the case in the classroom as well: the
teachers allow the class clown to behave in an unusual manner. There
are also coercive clowns, who are always trying to draw the attention
of their surroundings. Clowns like these are a bit annoying.
