IH, Unit 2
Deciding to Escape
So we decided to escape - but how do you escape? From where? What
do we do? If we want to dig a tunnel and escape - we need equipment,
and there will be noise… And what do we do with the soil? But we
have no time, the war is already out there, what? Will we wait here
until we have an idea? What will we do?
One of the friends had an idea - we have a friend at the Jerusalem
municipality. We can ask him for plans of the sewage system, and the
sewage system runs here, through this room, so we can dig and get to
the sewage. But we still have the problems of the noise, the
equipment and the soil. And then a good idea came up - we turned to
the British and told them - "You like order and cleanliness, right?"
"Right!"
"In order to clean this room, which is a room much bigger than the
other rooms - we need to pour water."
“Very well, pour water,” said the British.
But here we raised a problem: If we pour water, what do we do with
it? You cannot scoop water out when there is a step here…
"Look", we said to the British, "it is impossible to take out the water."
So the British asked, "Do you have a suggested solution?"
So we said "Yes. If it is possible to dig some kind of a small tub
inside the room, we can scoop the water into the tub and take the
water out with a bucket". The British said, "Fine, great idea!"
So the British gave us tools, the British gave us authorization to make
a digging noise, and we also had authorization to take the soil out.
Clever, no?
So now that we have all the authorizations we need, we can start
digging… Simultaneously with the tub, we dug a tub but we also dug
the way out.
