Elor Azarya
Surrounded by family and friends, to applauds, Elor Azarya entered the
courtroom as a hero. Two and a half hours have passed until the head of
the panel of Justices, Colonel Maya Heller, announced the decision to
convict the defendant Elor Azarya for manslaughter and conduct
unbecoming an IDF soldier. During this period of time, the verdict
surveyed every piece of evidence, dismantled every defense claim
Azarya’s defense attorneys brought up along the trial and crushed the
defense they constructed. And at the end of this detailed survey, of all the
defense’s and prosecution’s evidence, there was one conclusion; clear,
prominent, unequivocal. Azarya’s family members escorted him
throughout the entire trial. His parents’ health deteriorated. His mother lost
weight, his father had a stroke. They remained in the courtroom for a long
time after the deliberation was over, stunned and hurt.
