Lag BaOmer at Meron
Like every year, hundreds of thousands of people went to Meron to
celebrate Lag BaOmer at the tomb of Rabbi Simeon bar Yochai, who
according to believers wrote the book of Zohar, a mystical Kabbalah book.
Most of the people who came to Meron are ultra-orthodox so (you) mostly
hear two languages – Hebrew and Yiddish. This is a special experience for
the believers who come from afar. Every year it’s very hard to get to
Meron because there are a lot of traffic jams. Next year, Minister of
Transportation Israel Katz promises, there would already be a train. Meron
is a special place, but the spinners that are driving Israel crazy, got there
too.
