Young Children in Israel

In Israel today there are six hundred thousand children under the age of
three. Only a hundred and forty thousand of them are in daycares the

government supervises, like daycares by WIZO or Na’amat. All the rest

are in private daycares, and like we saw in recent days it’s sometimes hard
to know that everything is okay there. Back in two thousand twelve the

government said it will build four hundred new daycares, but as of today it

only built three hundred. This means there are a hundred more daycares
still missing. A new-old bill says that the government will supervise all

daycares and kindergartens for children under the age of three in Israel, but

as good as this sounds, in the end it’s all a matter of money.
