Unique Hebrew Preposition - ?ֶאת?
The preposition ? ֶאת?does not have an equivalent in English and it already
appears twice in the first verse of the Bible.
? ְו ֵאת ָּה ָּא ֶרץ?,? ֵאת ַה ָּש ַמ ִּים?,? ּ ָּב ָּרא ֱאֹל ִּהים?,?ְּב ֵרא ִּשית?
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth
? ֶּאת?is used in Hebrew when the verb has a specific object – a proper noun
(such as "Israel") or a common noun with a definite article (such as "the
country").
